Vancouver is consistently ranked in the top 10 cities in the world in terms of life quality. It has a moderate climate and is blessed with serene natural beauty, with mountains and ocean both accessible within 30 minutes of travel.
I have been in Vancouver for 6 months and here I share six of my favourite spots.
Centennial Seawalk, West Vancouver
The Seawall in West Vancouver is my favourite place in Vancouver. For someone who likes to go on walks, this seawall provides you an opportunity to unwind with spectacular views of oceans on one side and mountains on the other. It also has a very beautiful sunset with an illuminated view of the downtown skyline at night.
Lynn Canyon Bridge, North Vancouver
For hikers, the Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge is a delight for hikers and non-hikers alike. It has many short-distance pleasant trails with a lot of attractions like the suspension bridge, Twin Falls and natural swimming holes. My favourite spot is when you climb to the top, there is a small open park with benches where you can sit and have snacks. Additionally, if you decide to go, don’t forget to try coffee and chicken parantha kathi roll from the food truck available only on Mondays.
Wreck Beach
Wreck Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Vancouver. Access to it involves descending through a long staircase, with trees on both sides adding to its allure. It offers stunning views of the ocean and watching the sunrise at the beach is a breathtaking experience as you witness changes in the sky colour spilling into the Pacific Ocean near the horizon.
Mahony’s Taverna
Mahony’s Taverna near Canada Place is an Irish pub offering a diverse menu featuring burgers and sandwiches. I love their Mexican options like the tacos and nacho salad. Additionally, they also make great cocktails. It has indoor seating as well as patio seating with aesthetic views of the harbour. Since it does not snow much in Vancouver, it looks splendid with snow-clad mountains across the ocean.
Artigiano
Artigiano is my favourite coffee shop. Their signature coffee Vanilla Rosemary Latte is one of the best coffees I have ever tasted. From freshly baked croissants to indulgent desserts, there’s something for everybody to enjoy. It also has good interiors with a courteous staff. Located in the heart of downtown Vancouver, and several locations throughout the city, it is an ideal place to relax, work or meet with friends.
Tasty Indian Bistro
Situated in Yaletown, Tasty Indian Bistro has a very cozy ambience and offers great Indian cuisine options. Their Dal Makhni and Chicken Lababdar are bound to take you back on a nostalgic drive to India. They also have a good collection of wines and cocktails.
