Before officially starting the MBA program, whenever we asked alumni about their most memorable experiences, the BC MBA Games and MBA Games were consistently highlighted as one of the top events. We were curious about this much-talked-about event. Why did the seniors who participated in the Games consistently describe it as one of their best memories? After experiencing the BC MBA Games ourselves, we now understand why it holds such a special place in the hearts of MBA students. Let’s take a closer look at what makes the BC MBA Games so unforgettable!

This year, I had the honor of leading SFU as the Team Captain at the 2024 BC MBA Games, one of the most prestigious and dynamic MBA competitions in British Columbia. It is a platform where intellect meets athleticism, and passion meets purpose. This year, SFU Beedie shone brightly as we proudly finished as runners-up. But the experience was about so much more than just winning a trophy. It was about growth, teamwork, and creating memories that will last a lifetime.
The event is an exciting mix of case competitions, athletic challenges, and spirit events, bringing together students from top business schools across the province. It’s not just about competing; it’s about pushing yourself to new limits, learning from others, representing your school with pride, and building lifelong friendships—not just within our team but across the entire MBA community.

SFU’s culture goes far beyond academic excellence. It is rooted in collaboration, innovation, and leadership. From intense practice sessions to brainstorming innovative solutions for real-world business cases, our team worked together like a well-oiled machine. What stood out most to me was the unbreakable bond we formed. Everyone supported one another through every challenge, whether it was late-night case preparations or an intense athletic event. This is the SFU spirit—a community that uplifts and inspires you to give your best.
The case competitions this year were particularly thought-provoking. Sponsored by CIBC, FarmFolk CityFolk, and MNP, the challenges focused on food security, sustainability, and community development. Our live case team, which I was a part of, secured first place. We also earned second place in the Pecha Kucha and the Take-Home Case Competition. These victories were a testament to our teamwork, analytical skills, and ability to adapt under pressure.

The athletic challenges, including dodgeball and basketball, were equally exciting. These high-energy events showcased our teamwork, strategy, and resilience. Whether on the court or the sidelines, our team displayed incredible coordination and sportsmanship, fostering camaraderie that extended beyond the competition.
The highlight, however, was the Spirit Team Performance. This event brought out the best in everyone as participants performed with energy and enthusiasm, captivating the audience. The room, filled with brilliant MBA minds, came alive as everyone joined in, setting aside the competition to revel in a shared moment of joy and celebration. It was truly a unique and unforgettable experience.

As the team captain, this journey was transformative for me. The MBA Games challenged me to adapt, inspire, and lead under pressure. These lessons have already shaped me into a stronger professional, and I know they’ll stay with me long after graduation.
Lastly, I want to emphasize that the BC MBA Games is more than a competition – it’s an opportunity to grow, connect, and make memories that will define your MBA journey.
