My fellow students, the state of our school is strong!
This past year has been full of tremendous growth and impressive accomplishments. Beginning with the building blocks of business, we have acquired a range of hard and soft skills. From accounting and finance to sustainability and strategy, we have explored an enormous amount of material and have been challenged by our professors who demanded deeper thought.
Enhancements to our program have created powerful memories. Case competitions enabled Beedie students to compete with the best and the brightest in Vancouver, Montreal, Syracuse and Boston. Our Net Impact chapter created an inaugural SFU Sustainability Case Competition. The MBA Games provided a chance to connect with MBAs from across Canada and entrench school spirit. Domestic and International trips introduced us to First Nations in British Columbia and business communities in Brazil. These events formed friendships, networks and unforgettable experiences.
The Graduate Business Students Association (GBSA) has worked to better the student life throughout the year. With an incredible group of individuals:Wing-Ka Sze, Kelly Scott, Rachelle Huot, Diana Liang, Manual Riebeling, Betty Rooprai, Brian Hermkens, Fan Bai, Ryan Woodland, Jade Yue and Vinil Reddy, we hosted numerous events and represented student interests with the Administration, Faculty and Graduate Student Society. I’d like to thank the team, and all students at Beedie for an impactful year.
We are no longer students contemplating classes or resumes; we are motivated young professionals keen to work in a clear, memorable and compelling fashion.
With 4 weeks left in our final semester, the objectives are clear: finish with purpose and return to the workforce with passion. I, for one, am excited for the next chapter!
